Pilot version — not lawyer-reviewed

This page explains what Krixi collects when you use it, why, who else handles it, how long it is kept and how to ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Krixi is in a private family pilot in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

1. Who runs Krixi

Krixi is operated by Chandu Suresh, an individual. Postal address: Bangalore 560037. In this policy “Krixi”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of Krixi.

Effective date: 2026-10-19.

2. What we collect

  • Account details. Your name, mobile number, village, your hub, the languages you choose and, if you give it, your land area. Your hub may also register you with these details, and we record whether you signed up yourself or were registered by the hub.
  • Password or PIN. Stored only in scrambled form (a bcrypt hash). Nobody at Krixi or your hub can read it. Sign-up and reset codes are stored only as a scrambled check value and expire after 5 minutes.
  • Your agreement. You tick “I agree to the Terms and the Privacy Policy” when you sign up, when you set up or reset your password, and when you sign in if we have no record of your agreement to the current version (for example a password set before we began keeping this record) or the text has changed since you agreed. Each time, we record the time and the version you agreed to. We never record agreement for you, and a hub cannot agree on your behalf. Hub staff and field experts see a notice that continuing means agreeing, but we do not yet keep a record of their agreement.
  • Your crops. The crops you add, your own name for a field, sowing date, area, season and stage; the crop tasks you tick as done, your sowing plans and crop reminders.
  • Ask Krixi chats. What you type, the words you confirm after speaking, your answers to Krixi’s questions, and Krixi’s answers. A question about a crop problem also creates a case record (your words, the crop and Krixi’s suggestion) that your hub can see, and you can send it for expert review.
  • Photos. A photo you send is checked by an AI photo model. It is saved only if you tick that Krixi may keep it. Before a photo is checked or saved, its hidden location and camera data (EXIF) is removed.
  • Follow-ups. When Krixi or your hub asks how your crop is doing after a problem, your answer (for example whether it recovered and what you applied) and any note you add.
  • Voice. Your recording is sent to the speech service to turn it into text. Krixi does not save the recording; only the text you confirm is saved in the chat. (Live voice calls, which would save what you say without a confirm step, are switched off in the pilot.)
  • Orders. The products you ask your hub for, quantities, prices, pickup or delivery choice, delivery village, time slot, handover code, how you paid (cash or UPI) and the invoice. Hub staff may take a photo as proof of handover, and the name of the staff member who handed over or took payment is kept.
  • Location for weather. Only if you press the button to share it. Your phone rounds it to about 1 km and keeps it on the phone; the server uses it for the forecast and does not save it.
  • Technical logs. Our servers record each request (time, page or address requested, your internet (IP) address, browser type) to keep the service running and safe. The address requested can include words typed into a search box. Our application masks phone numbers and passwords in its own logs, but the web server’s request log is not masked, so a phone number typed into a search box (for example by hub staff looking up a farmer) can appear there. The text of your chats is not written to logs.

We do not collect Aadhaar, bank account or card details. Please do not type them, or phone numbers, into the chat. Krixi takes no online payments.

Hub staff and field experts: we keep the hub account (with its password in scrambled form), the hub’s own details such as its UPI ID, the staff names typed on orders and cases, and for field experts their display name, qualification, organisation, registration reference and a scrambled form of their key.

3. Why we use it

  • To create your account, sign you in and keep it secure (codes, lockout after wrong tries).
  • To answer your crop questions in your language, using your crops and their stage.
  • So your hub can follow up on your crop problems and prepare your orders.
  • To improve Krixi’s answers, using photos only if you agreed to keep them.
  • To fix problems and protect the service from misuse.

We use your data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you sign up (or when you set your first own password, if your hub registered you), and for the purposes you would expect when you use a feature (for example, your hub seeing an order you sent it).

4. Who can see it

  • You see your own crops, chats and orders in the app.
  • Your hub sees your name, village, phone number and land area, your crop-problem cases and Krixi’s suggestions, your follow-up answers, your orders and the photos you agreed to keep, so its staff can help you.
  • Field experts who work with your hub may see your hub’s crop-problem cases, including your own words and the crop, but not your name or phone number (unless you typed them into your message).
  • Service providers process data for us only to provide the feature you use (table below).
Service providers that process data for Krixi
ProviderWhat it receivesWhen
Fast2SMS (SMS service, India)Your mobile number and the 6-digit code. Nothing else.Only when you sign up or set or reset your password.
Groq and OpenRouter (AI language and photo models)The message you type or the words you confirmed from voice, the last 8 lines of the chat, your first name, your crops with their stage, your own field names and days since sowing, the area of your hub and today’s date. Photos you send, with location data removed. Krixi tries to replace Indian mobile numbers and email addresses you type with [number] / [email] before sending, but it can miss some, and other details you type (such as names) are not removed. When you use Ask Krixi or send a photo. In the pilot set-up Groq answers chats first and OpenRouter only if Groq fails; for photos it is the other way round.
Gnani (speech service)The recording of what you say, to turn it into text; and the text Krixi reads aloud (its own answer, which can include your first name in a greeting). We have not yet confirmed how long Gnani keeps recordings or where it processes them.Only when you use the microphone or the read-aloud button.
Weather and place services (Open-Meteo, API Ninjas)A location rounded to about 1 km: the one you shared, or else your village or your hub (weather); or your village name and your hub’s state (to find the village on a map).Only if these services are switched on; in the pilot set-up they are off.
  • OpenRouter passes each request on to the company that runs the chosen model: for photos, Google (Gemini); for chats, a company OpenRouter picks that runs the same model. Krixi asks OpenRouter to use only services that agree not to keep or train on the data (zero data retention), and our server will not start in production without that setting.
  • Groq’s terms say it does not train on this data, but allow it to keep requests for up to 30 days for safety checks unless zero retention is switched on for our account. We have not yet confirmed that it is switched on, so for now Groq may keep your requests for up to 30 days.
  • Some providers process data outside India; Groq, for example, in the United States. We use only providers needed for the service.
  • Mandi prices come from the Government of India’s open data service (data.gov.in). Krixi sends it only a state and a crop name, never anything about you.
  • Not used in the pilot set-up: live voice calls (LiveKit), search by meaning (Jina) and error-reporting services. We will add any of them to this table before switching it on.
  • The providers may change. We will update this table when they do.
  • We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers. Krixi has no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools.
  • We may disclose data when the law requires it, for example to a court or the police.

5. Where it is stored

Your data is stored on Krixi’s server and its backups, hosted by Microsoft Azure in India (Central India region). Connections to Krixi are encrypted (HTTPS).

6. How long we keep it

  • Account, crops, chats, cases, follow-ups, kept photos and orders: kept until you delete a chat yourself or ask us to delete your data. During the pilot nothing is deleted automatically. A chat closes for new messages 48 hours after the last message, but it is not deleted.
  • Orders and invoices: the hub may have to keep invoice records for longer under tax law, even after you ask for deletion. When your account is deleted, your name, phone number, village, notes, handover code and handover photo are removed from them.
  • Sign-up and reset codes: expire after 5 minutes; records older than a day are removed the next time a code is requested.
  • Backups: a copy of the database and saved photos is made every night and kept for 14 days, on the same server. Data we delete is gone from all backups within 16 days. If we ever have to restore a backup, we delete your data again before the service is used.
  • Server logs: rotated by size, so older entries are overwritten; they are not kept for a fixed period. The logs of our scheduled maintenance jobs (backups and checks) are not rotated yet.

7. Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to tell you what data we hold about you, to correct or complete it, to delete it, and to withdraw your consent. You can also name another person to act for you if you cannot. We will answer within the grievance times in section 12. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India once it accepts complaints.

This page describes how we try to respect these rights during the pilot. It is not a claim of certification or of full legal compliance.

8. Deleting your data

  • One chat: delete it yourself in Ask Krixi. The chat and its messages are removed. The case records of its crop questions, any photos you agreed to keep and your follow-up answers stay with your hub until your account is deleted.
  • Your whole account: there is no delete button yet. Ask your hub staff, or contact the grievance officer below, from your registered mobile number. After we confirm it is you, we delete your account details, password, crops, plantings, reminders, saved addresses, Ask Krixi chats and the case records behind them (including expert reviews), photo checks, follow-ups and outcomes, and your saved photos and voice notes, and tell you the date it was done. We cannot delete your data while an order is still open with your hub.
  • What is kept: invoices from your hub and the order lines on them, because the hub may have to keep them by law; your name, phone number, village, notes, handover code and handover photo are removed from them, so they show only “Deleted farmer”. Copies held by our service providers (section 4) follow their own retention, and anything on your own phone stays there until you sign out or clear the site’s data.
  • Withdrawing consent works the same way, including consent to keep a photo (there is no button for that yet). It does not affect what was done before, and without consent we cannot keep your account open.

9. Cookies and data on your phone

Krixi uses only what it needs to work. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

  • Sign-in cookie (farmer or hub): keeps you signed in for 24 hours; cannot be read by page scripts.
  • Language cookie: remembers the screen language for a year.
  • Stored on your phone only (browser storage): your list for the hub, recent shop searches, your region, the language you speak in, the last sign-in role, and the rounded weather location if you shared it. For field experts, the reviewer key; for hub staff, the staff name on that device.

Because these are strictly necessary for features you ask for, Krixi does not show a cookie banner. Signing out removes the sign-in cookie; clearing your browser data removes the rest. Browser storage does not expire on its own.

10. Children

Krixi is meant for adult farmers and hub staff. It is not meant for children under 18. We do not ask for your age, so if a child has signed up, please contact us and we will delete the account.

11. Keeping it safe

We use encrypted connections, scrambled passwords and codes, limits on sign-in tries and SMS codes, and keep each hub’s data separate. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will inform you and the authorities as the law requires.

12. Grievance officer and contact

  • Name: Chandu Suresh
  • Email: chanduyadav6252@gmail.com
  • Phone: 9591162196

We will confirm that we received your grievance within 24 hours and resolve it within 7 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee set up by the Government of India within 30 days, contact the National Consumer Helpline (1915), or complain to a consumer commission.

You can also speak to your hub staff. See the contact page and the Terms and Conditions.

13. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when Krixi changes how it uses data, and change the effective date. For important changes we will tell you before they apply, in the app or through your hub.
